The Alber e-fix E35 is a wheelchair power add-on that turns a manual wheelchair into a joystick-driven powered chair. The manual rear wheels come off and two motorised 24 inch wheels go on in their place, with a battery pack and control unit mounted to the frame. It is rated to 120 kg, runs at up to 6 km/h and gives a range of up to 16 km per charge.
The advantage over a full power wheelchair is transport. Each drive wheel lifts off without tools and weighs 7.8 kg, the battery pack is 2.0 kg and the control unit 0.6 kg, so the 18.9 kg system is never lifted as one piece and the host chair still folds into a car boot.

Who it suits
An occupant-driven user whose manual wheelchair fits well but who no longer has the strength or endurance to self-propel over distance, and who wants to keep that chair rather than change to a power wheelchair. It also suits clients who depend on a carer or family car for transport and need the chair to come apart.
Good to know
- Fitted to the client’s existing manual wheelchair, so seat size and overall dimensions are those of the host chair
- Supplied as per script and requires fitting to the host chair
- Maximum kerb or obstacle height is set by the wheelchair manufacturer, not by the e-fix
Book a trial and we will fit the e-fix to the client’s chair for assessment. Thrive Lifecare is Tasmanian owned and delivers and sets up Tasmania-wide.
