Service and repairs
Our own technicians service, repair and maintain the equipment we supply, and plenty we did not. Workshops in Launceston and Cambridge, and a mobile van that comes to the home, the facility or the ward, Tasmania-wide.
Book a service
Tell us the equipment, where it is and what it is doing. A technician will be in touch to book a time, and we will tell you if it needs to come to us or we come to you.
Equipment that is unsafe to use should be taken out of service straight away. Call us on the number above rather than waiting for a form reply.
Why maintenance matters
- Safety. Hoists, beds, wheelchairs and shower chairs carry people. Worn slings, tired batteries and loose fittings are the failures we find most often, and all three are preventable.
- Fewer breakdowns. Scheduled servicing catches the small faults before they become a call-out, a hire replacement and a week without the equipment.
- Longer asset life. Serviced equipment lasts longer and holds its value, which matters when funding has to stretch.
- Compliance. Providers are expected to show that equipment is maintained to the relevant Australian Standards. We give you the records to prove it.
What we service
Preventative maintenance
A service agreement sets the cycle for each equipment type and how hard it is worked. We group your assets by site, ward or house, book the visits in advance so your roster is not disrupted, do the checks, replace the wear parts and report the condition of every item.
Warranty work
Faults inside the warranty period are assessed and remedied by us, whether we supplied the item or another supplier did. We deal with the manufacturer so you do not have to.
General repairs
Beds, hoists, wheelchairs and power chairs, scooters, commodes, air mattresses and pressure care, walkers and recliners. If it is broken, tell us the fault and we will quote the fix.
Where the work happens
Most repairs are done in our Launceston or Cambridge workshops, where the parts and the tools are. Where the equipment cannot travel, or the person cannot be without it, our mobile technicians work on site: at home, in a facility, on a ward or at a school. We carry common spares in the van so a lot of jobs are finished on the first visit.
Our technicians
- Employed by Thrive, not subcontracted, so the same people see your equipment year after year.
- Trade backgrounds, with product training from the manufacturers whose equipment we carry.
- Test and tag certified for electrical equipment, and police checked.
- NDIS registered provider.
Asset registers and reporting
For aged care, hospitals and disability providers we label and log each item, so the register shows what you own, where it is and when it was last serviced. After every visit you get a report: the condition of each item, the work done, anything that failed, and a quote for major repairs so replacement planning and budgets are based on real numbers.
Labelling, tracking and records
Every item on an agreement is labelled and logged when we first see it, so the register shows what you own, where it is, what it is worth and when it was last touched. Each service, repair and part is recorded against that item, which means the history travels with the equipment rather than living in someone’s memory.
You get the records in a form you can hand to an auditor or a funder without reworking them, and the same data shows you which items are costing more to keep than to replace.
How quickly we get there
Safety-critical faults come first. Tell us the equipment is unsafe, or that someone is without a hoist, a bed or a chair, and we treat it as urgent and come back to you the same working day wherever we can. Routine work is booked into the next scheduled run for your area. Where a repair will take time, we will talk to you about a hire item so the person is not left without equipment.
Standards we work to
- AS/NZS 3551 for medical equipment management programs.
- AS/NZS 10535 for hoists for the transfer of people with a disability.
- AS/NZS 3760 for in-service electrical safety, test and tag.
- AS/NZS 3200 and IEC 60601 for medical electrical equipment safety.
- Manufacturer service schedules for beds, mattresses, wheelchairs and shower commodes.
What it costs
Repairs are quoted before any work starts. For NDIS participants, repairs and maintenance can usually be claimed against the assistive technology budget, and we quote in the format the plan manager needs. Aged care providers and facilities can set a pre-approved threshold so small repairs go ahead without waiting on a purchase order. Equipment still under warranty is repaired at no cost to you. Call-out and labour rates depend on where the equipment is and what it needs, so we confirm them with the quote before anything starts.
