Quick answers for clinicians, support coordinators, families and carers. If your question is not here, call us.
Getting started
Do I need a referral or a script?
No. Anyone can contact us. For NDIS and aged care funded equipment, the funder will usually want an assessment from an occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and we work alongside them. If you do not have a therapist, we can suggest how to find one.
Can I trial equipment before buying?
Yes. Most equipment can be trialled in our showrooms or in the home. Use the Book a trial form or call us. Trials are free for standard equipment; complex or scripted equipment may involve a fitting fee that we tell you about first.
Do you come to the home?
Yes, Tasmania-wide. Home trials, home measures, delivery, installation, training and servicing are all done by our own staff.
Can I buy online?
This website is a catalogue. There is no checkout, because most of what we supply needs to be fitted to the person and quoted for a funder. Tell us what you are looking at and we come back with options and a quote, usually within one business day.
Funding
Are you a registered NDIS provider?
Yes. We quote in the NDIS format with support item codes, and work with self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants.
What other funding do you work with?
Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA (through Allianz), hospital discharge programs, workplace insurers and private purchase. The process is the same: listen, suggest, trial, quote.
Is equipment GST-free?
Many assistive technology items are GST-free when supplied to a person with a disability or illness. The quote shows GST separately so you can see what applies.
Hire
How does hire work?
Tell us what you need and for how long. We deliver, set up and demonstrate the equipment, and collect it when you are done. Hire is charged weekly with a minimum period. See Hire and the Hire Terms.
Can hire be funded?
Often, yes. Short-term hire is commonly funded through NDIS plans and Home Care Packages. We invoice the funder directly.
Can I buy the equipment I am hiring?
Yes. Hire paid can be credited towards the purchase; talk to your Thrive consultant.
Delivery, service and returns
How long does delivery take?
Stock items are usually delivered within 1 to 2 business days in Launceston and Hobart, and 3 to 4 business days regionally. Special orders depend on the supplier and the lead time is on the quote. See Delivery and Installation.
What if something breaks?
Call us. Our technicians repair and service equipment across Tasmania, and we manage warranty claims with the manufacturer. See Warranty, Service and Repairs.
Can I return equipment?
Faulty equipment: always. Change of mind: on standard stock items in resalable condition, with a restocking fee. Special orders and opened hygiene items cannot be returned for change of mind. See Returns and Refunds.
For clinicians and support coordinators
What do you provide to support an NDIS AT request?
An itemised quote with support item codes, delivery and set-up shown separately, a product specification sheet, and a consultant who will do the home measure and attend the trial with you.
How quickly do you respond?
Enquiries through the website go straight to a consultant in your region. We aim to respond within one business day. For urgent discharges, call.
