About this product

The Posey Bed Sensor is a flat pressure pad that lies under the bottom sheet at hip level. Connected to a Posey alarm unit, it detects when the patient’s weight leaves the pad and sounds the alarm, giving staff or a carer warning before the person is on their feet. This version is rated for six months of use and is then replaced.

The pad is thin enough not to be felt through a sheet and is fitted with a cord that plugs into the alarm unit. It is a single-patient item and is not cleaned and reissued between patients.

Key features

  • Pressure-sensing bed pad, alarms when weight leaves the pad
  • Six month rated life
  • Single-patient use
  • Plugs into Posey alarm units and compatible monitors
  • Sits under the sheet at hip level

Who it suits

A client at falls risk who tries to get out of bed unassisted, in a facility or home already using a Posey alarm unit. A bed pad alerts earlier than a floor mat because it triggers as the person moves off the bed rather than after they stand. For a client who needs to be monitored in a chair as well, a chair pad from the same range is the companion product.

Good to know

  • Alarm unit is sold separately; check the plug matches your unit
  • Replace at six months, or earlier if it stops alarming reliably
  • Not for use with Cura1 monitors without confirming connector compatibility
  • Supplied by Highgate Healthcare
