The One Touch Automatic Can Opener is a hands-free can opener. Sit it on the lid, press the button once, and it walks itself round the rim, cuts the lid and stops. There is no handle to squeeze and no wheel to turn. It opens cans from 53 to 153 mm across and leaves a smooth edge on both the lid and the can.
It runs on two AA batteries, measures 127 x 70 x 46 mm, and wipes clean. Batteries are not included.
Key features
- One button starts the cut and the opener switches off when finished
- Opens cans from 53 to 153 mm in diameter
- Cuts below the rim, leaving no sharp edge
- Runs on 2 x AA batteries
- 127 x 70 x 46 mm, small enough for a kitchen drawer
Who it suits
A client with arthritis in the hands, reduced grip after a stroke, or one functional hand, who wants to keep preparing their own meals. It needs only the strength to press a button and lift the opener off. A client with a tremor may find the opener wanders if it is not placed square on the lid, so trial it first; a wall-mounted or bench-clamped opener is the alternative.
Good to know
- Batteries not included
- Does not work on ring-pull cans that have no rim seam or on oval cans outside the size range
- Wipe clean; do not immerse
