The Homecraft Long Handled Shoe Horn is a 430 mm moulded plastic shoe horn. The length means the client can guide their heel into a shoe from sitting, or standing with support, without bending past the knees. It weighs 37 g and has a loop on the handle so it hangs by the door or bed.
It is a single moulding with no joints to loosen and wipes clean.
Key features
- 430 mm long
- Moulded plastic, 37 g
- Hanging loop on the handle
- Wipe clean
Who it suits
A client with hip precautions after a hip replacement, restricted spinal flexion, or dizziness and loss of balance when bending. It is usually issued with a sock aid and a long handled reacher as a dressing kit. A client who cannot grip a slim handle may do better with a shoe horn with a moulded T-handle or a spring-loaded shoe horn.
Good to know
- Works well with lace-up or slip-on shoes with a firm heel counter
- Plastic will flex under heavy load; a metal shoe horn is stiffer for tight shoes
