The contoured headrest is an option for the Rifton Activity Chair. The curved pad cradles the back of the head and gives some contact at the sides, so it suits a user who needs the head held in midline rather than only stopped from falling backwards.
Two knobs set the position: one for height and one for depth. That lets the headrest be set close behind the head, and reset as the user grows or as the chair recline is changed.
Rifton also makes a flat headrest and an adjustable winged headrest for the same chair. A flat pad suits a user who needs a simple backstop, while the winged version gives more lateral control than the contoured pad.
