The AreaCare Premium is a multi-density foam mattress for clients at low to medium risk of pressure injury. Its three zoned layers put memory foam on top for immersion, a support layer beneath it for pressure redistribution, and a slow-recovery base with a tapered heel zone that lowers pressure under the heels. Hinged firm side walls keep the edge stable for sitting and transfers and help with falls prevention while still following a profiling bed. Safe working load is 220 kg on both sizes, and the mattress is 1980 mm long and 150 mm deep.
The cover is a vapour-permeable, water-resistant, four-way stretch polyurethane fabric with welded and taped seams, a 360 degree zip and a waterfall skirt so fluid runs off rather than into the zip. It is bacteriostatically treated and fire retardant to BS 7175 and BS 5852. This code (BSPS6002) is the firm version; a soft version is also made.

Who it suits
A client at low to medium risk who spends long periods in bed or has fragile heels, on an adjustable or hospital bed at home or in residential care. The firm side walls make it a good choice where the client sits on the edge of the bed to dress or transfer, or where a bed rail alternative is wanted. For a client above 220 kg, or at high risk with an existing injury, an alternating air mattress or a bariatric foam surface is the better referral.
