The Homecraft Terry Cloth Sock Aid holds a sock open so the client can push their foot in and pull the aid out by the tapes without bending to the floor. The plastic core is 230 mm long and slotted so it bends around the heel. The terry cloth outer holds the sock in place and the nylon inner lets the foot slide through easily.
It weighs 71 g. The two tapes have loop handles, so it can be used with one hand and gives a longer reach than a rigid sock aid.
Key features
- 230 mm long plastic core, 71 g
- Slits in the core let it flex around the heel
- Terry cloth outer grips the sock, nylon inner reduces friction
- Two tapes with loop handles for one-handed use
- Hand washable
Who it suits
A client on hip precautions after a replacement, or with limited hip and back flexion, a hemiplegic hand, or reduced balance in sitting, who needs to dress independently. For compression stockings, which are much tighter, a purpose-made stocking applicator is the better choice.
Good to know
- Suits everyday socks and light stockings, not compression stockings
- Often prescribed with a long-handled shoe horn and dressing stick as a hip kit
