About this product

The Akces-Med Kidoo is a positioning chair for children who need postural support to sit for therapy, eating, learning and play. The seat height and armrests adjust, the seat tilts in space to change the seating angle, and the chair comes with a pelvic belt, hip pads and lateral supports and a Hexagon Pro headrest so the fit can be built up around the child. It is made in five sizes so the same chair can be prescribed from early childhood through to the teenage years.

The upholstery is medical-grade, breathable, waterproof and stain resistant, and wipes clean after meals. A knee abductor block, tray, height and angle adjustable foot support and a mobile base with footrest are available as options. The Joy Table also fits the Kidoo. Complies with EN 12182:2012 and is ARTG listed (151797).

Who it suits

A child with cerebral palsy, hypotonia or another condition affecting trunk and pelvic control who needs a supported, adjustable seat at home, kindergarten or school, and whose therapist wants a chair that can be re-set as the child grows or as tone changes. Tilt-in-space helps a child who fatigues in upright sitting. A child who needs a fully contoured or moulded seat, or who needs to be pushed outdoors, will need a specialist seating system or a paediatric wheelchair rather than an activity chair.

Good to know

  • Sizing is by the child’s measurements; ask us for the Akces-Med size chart and a script form
  • Tray, mobile base and footrest are optional extras
  • Upholstery colour is blue
  • Set-up and fitting by a therapist is recommended; we can arrange a trial with the therapist present
