The Dyna-Form Mercury Advance is a hybrid mattress: a foam mattress with air cells built in, so it can be used as a static high specification foam mattress or connected to the pump for alternating pressure. That lets a client step up to dynamic pressure care when their risk rises and step back down without changing the mattress. It is rated for very high risk, the safe working load is 254 kg with no minimum user weight, and it is 150 mm deep and 1980 mm long in 860 mm and 1070 mm widths.
The mattress weighs 13.3 kg (860 mm) or 15 kg (1070 mm) and the pump 1.7 kg. The cover is a high frequency welded, multi-stretch, vapour-permeable fabric that wipes down with hypochlorite at 1,000 ppm. The pump runs a 1 in 2 alternating cycle of 10 minutes and sets pressure automatically to the client’s weight.
Key features
- Static foam or alternating air in the same mattress
- Rated for very high risk of pressure injury
- Safe working load 254 kg, no minimum weight
- 1980 mm long, 150 mm deep, 860 or 1070 mm wide
- Fixed head section for stability, 1 in 2 cycle of 10 minutes
- CPR valve deflates the cells within 10 seconds
- Pump alarms with LEDs for low cell pressure, 10 W power draw
Who it suits
A client at very high risk of pressure injury, or with an existing injury, whose condition is likely to change: palliative clients, clients recovering from surgery, or anyone where the OT wants the option to move to alternating pressure without a second mattress. Because it is foam first, a client already on it can stay on it when the pump is not running. A client who is stable and at medium risk will do well on a plain high specification foam mattress at lower cost and weight.
Good to know
- Mattress and pump can be bought separately; choose the with-pump option for alternating pressure from day one
- Fits standard 1980 mm adjustable and hospital beds; check the bed platform width
- Warranty: 8 years foam, 4 years cover, 2 years pump and cells
- All components are replaceable and the cover is available with securing straps
