The EasyGlide Oval is a rigid sliding board with a smooth, low-friction top surface. Carers use it to move a person lying on their back from one surface to another, for example bed to stretcher, and to reposition a person higher up in the bed.
The oval shape and rounded edges let the board be slipped into place and drawn back out without needing the person to be turned onto their side. The smaller mini size is used in seated positions, for moving a person further back into a chair and for applying a divided-leg sling.
Both sizes are moulded from polyethylene. The surface can be wiped down with 70% ethanol, 45% isopropanol or a similar disinfectant between users, which suits shared clinical and community equipment pools.
The board is for use between firm surfaces with a gap of no more than 5cm between them. It is not a substitute for a hoist where a full lift is needed.
