The Etac Socky is a fabric sock aid for clients who cannot reach their feet. A folded polyester sleeve sits over a flexible polypropylene sheet: the sock is stretched over the sleeve, the aid is lowered to the floor by its cord, the foot goes in and the cord pulls the sock up the leg. It comes in two lengths, Short at 400 mm and Long at 600 mm.
The Short weighs 94 g and suits ankle and knee-length socks including flight socks. The Long weighs 146 g and takes long socks and tights. Both hand wash at up to 40 degrees.
Key features
- Two lengths: Short 400 mm (94 g) and Long 600 mm (146 g)
- Pre-folded polyester sleeve with two plastic hooks holds the sock open
- Polypropylene base reduces friction between the sock and the floor or carpet
- Cord handle so the client pulls with both hands from a seated position
- Hand wash at up to 40 degrees
- Item codes 80601002-2 (Short) and 80601001-2 (Long)
Who it suits
A client with limited hip flexion, back pain or reduced hand strength after hip or knee surgery, or with arthritis, who can still hold a cord and pull. The Long is the one to choose for tights or thigh-length socks. For firm compression stockings, look at the Etac Socky Support instead, which is built for the tighter fabric.
Good to know
- Not intended for compression stockings; ask about the Socky Support for those
- Flexible, so it packs flat in a drawer or bag
- No assembly required
