The Forte Sovereign S3 is a high care foam mattress made in Armidale, New South Wales, for clients at medium to high risk of pressure injury. It is 150 mm deep and built in four layers: an Airoform memory foam top for immersion, a triple-grade zoned layer with firmer sacral support and smaller profiled cells at the heels and shoulders, a supportive middle layer that helps with transfers, and a firm foundation that stops bottoming out. The therapeutic weight range is 30 to 250 kg.
The cover is a four-way stretch, vapour permeable, fluid resistant polyurethane top welded to a waterproof PVC base, with a 180 degree zip and a fluid flap over it. It wipes clean and tolerates 10,000 ppm chlorine disinfection. Hinged strengthened sides give a firm edge for sitting and standing. Sizes run from single (1980 x 880 mm) to long queen (2030 x 1530 mm), including split queen halves for adjustable beds.

Who it suits
A client assessed at medium to high pressure injury risk who spends long periods in bed, for example in palliative care, after a spinal injury or with limited independent movement, and who does not need or cannot tolerate an alternating air mattress. The firm edge helps a client who transfers from the bed edge. For a client with an existing category 3 or 4 injury, or who cannot be repositioned at all, an alternating air system is usually the better choice.
Good to know
- Split queen sizes are single halves for a split adjustable bed; order two
- Long sizes (2030 mm) suit most adjustable homecare beds; check the platform length
- Cover is stain resistant and wipe clean; do not launder the foam
