About this product

The Freedom Cobra Bed Stick is a single upright handle on a flat base that sits under the mattress, held in place by the weight of the mattress and the client. The curved upright gives a grip point for rolling, pulling up to sit and lowering back down. It is rated to 120 kg and measures about 390 x 470 x 500 mm.

The frame is white powder coated aluminium, so it is light to move between beds and easy to wipe down. It can be fitted on either side of the bed and is sold knocked down for compact delivery.

Key features

  • Safe working load 120 kg
  • Approximate size 390 x 470 x 500 mm
  • White powder coated aluminium frame
  • Fits under the mattress on either side of the bed
  • Suits home, hospital and residential care beds

Who it suits

A client who can move in bed but needs something to pull on to sit up or to steady a stand from the edge of the bed, for example with generalised weakness, arthritis or after surgery. It is a simple first step before a bed rail. For a client who is at risk of rolling out of bed, or who needs a barrier rather than a handhold, a bed rail or a bed pole with a floor plate is a better fit.

Good to know

  • Simple assembly on delivery
  • Needs a firm, heavy mattress on a slat or ensemble base; check it cannot slide on a light foam mattress
  • Assess entrapment risk between the stick and the mattress edge for confused or restless clients
