The Klaxon Twist (distributed in Australia through Etac and Ki Mobility) is a front-mounted power add-on for manual wheelchairs. The drive wheel docks onto a linking bracket fitted to the chair frame, lifting the front castors off the ground so the user steers with the handlebar and controls speed with a twist throttle. Undocking takes a few seconds and the chair is a normal manual wheelchair again.
Five configurations are available from the one unit: front mounted with a folding handlebar, front mounted with a joystick, rear mounted with user control, rear mounted with a carer control, and a fold-stow-go setup for cars and travel. Central, rear and lateral linking systems suit most rigid and folding frames, including Ki Mobility, Motion Composites and TiLite chairs.
