These forearm supports replace or supplement the standard handles on Schuchmann paediatric walkers. The child rests the forearm in the trough and holds a grip, which moves load off the wrists and hands and helps steady the gait pattern.
They are used where hand grip or wrist control is limited, or where the child pushes down hard on the handles and loses posture as a result. The supports adjust in three planes, so angle and position can be set to suit the child’s arm position rather than forcing the arm to the frame.
Height ranges vary with the size of the walker the supports are fitted to:
- marcy size 0: forearm supports 41 to 58cm
- marcy size 1: 49 to 70cm
- marcy size 2: 63 to 85cm
- marcy size 3: 73 to 98cm
- malte size 1: 46 to 64cm
- malte size 2: 63 to 87cm
- malte size 3: 79 to 103cm
- malte size 4: 98 to 124cm
Order the supports to match the size of the walker frame. Schuchmann walkers are usually specified for GMFCS levels II to IV.
