About this product

The Motion Composites Move is a lightweight folding wheelchair built to order in Canada on a 6061 aluminium unibody frame. Its folding system is engineered to feel like a rigid chair when open, so energy from each push goes into moving rather than flexing the frame. Transport weight is 6.4 kg without wheels and armrests, and the lightest configuration is 10.9 kg with wheels and wheel locks. Standard user weight capacity is 120 kg, rising to 159 kg with the Heavy Duty kit.

Seat width runs from 356 mm to 559 mm in even inch sizes, seat depth 406 mm to 508 mm, and front seat-to-floor height 318 mm to 521 mm, all set at order.

Key features

  • 6061 aluminium unibody frame with an ultra-rigid folding system
  • Transport weight from 6.4 kg with wheels and armrests removed
  • Seat width, seat depth, back height and seat-to-floor heights built to order
  • Flip-back convertible armrests and integrated push handles
  • Anti-flutter caster system, Newton One spoke wheels standard
  • Back angle adjustable from 90 to 110 degrees

Who it suits

Prescribe it for active self-propelling users who need a chair light enough to lift into a car and precise enough in its set-up to protect shoulders over years of pushing. It suits people with spinal cord injury, amputation and other long term conditions who want a folding chair without the loose feel of a standard cross-brace frame.

Good to know

  • Scripted product: every chair is configured from the order form, so a seating assessment and measurements come first
  • Seat widths of 20 in and 22 in require the Heavy Duty option
  • Front casters from 4 in to 8 in, rear wheels from 20 in to 26 in, footrest angle 60 or 70 degrees
  • Warranty of 5 years on the frame and cross brace, 2 years on Motion Composites parts

Book a trial to assess your client in the Move, then we will help complete the order form and quote. Thrive Lifecare delivers and fits wheelchairs Tasmania-wide.
