The Ormesa Grillo is a folding aluminium gait trainer that can be set up as a front or rear drive walker on the same frame. Independent pelvic and thoracic supports hold the user upright, and a gas spring height adjustment with a constant centre of gravity lets a therapist change the height with the user standing in it. Four sizes cover users from 750 to 1900 mm tall: mini and small are rated to 35 kg and 45 kg, medium to 90 kg and large to 110 kg.
Frame weight runs from 15 kg for the mini to 29.5 kg for the large, and the frame folds in a single movement without removing any support. Rear wheels have anti-rollback, five position drag braking and a red parking pedal; front swivel wheels can be locked straight. Medium and large frames can be ordered with a narrow base wheel set that reduces overall width by 75 mm.

Who it suits
A child or adult with cerebral palsy, an acquired brain injury or another condition that limits voluntary movement and balance, who can take steps when the pelvis and trunk are held upright, for example a child moving from a standing frame into supported walking at school. It is a gait trainer, not a walking frame: a client who only needs hand support and a seat to rest on should be assessed for a forearm support walker or rollator instead.
Good to know
- Supplied as a frame with the chosen configuration: pelvic support with handlebar, arm supports, or pelvic and thoracic supports; headrest, harness, saddle, leg divider and weighting bars are optional accessories
- Sizing is by the user’s height and the pelvic and thoracic support circumference; a trial fitting is strongly recommended
- Medium and large are the only sizes offered with the narrow base wheel option
- Medical device under EU Regulation 2017/745; manufactured in Italy
