The R82 Scallop is a simple floor seat made from a flexible shell that gives stability without stopping the child from moving. It is designed for children at GMFCS levels 1 to 3 who need some support to sit on the floor, and the two attachment straps let it sit on a standard chair as well. Four sizes run from a 19.2 cm seat width and 15 kg maximum user mass in size 1 to a 29.6 cm seat width and 70 kg in size 4.
The shell weighs between 0.6 kg and 1.44 kg and has two carry handles, so it travels between home, school and the park. The reversible fabric cushion comes in red and blue or grey and green, lifts out of the shell and machine washes at 60 degrees Celsius.

Who it suits
A child with mild to moderate physical disability who sits on the floor at home or in class but tires or slumps without support, or a child with autism or a sensory processing difference who settles with the tactile boundary the shell provides. It is not a postural seating system: a child who needs pelvic control, lateral trunk supports or tilt should be assessed for an activity chair instead.
Good to know
