The Slipeze slide sheet is a low-friction sheet placed under a person in bed so carers can slide them up, across or onto their side instead of lifting. It comes in two sizes: 1.5 x 1 m for turns and small repositions, and 1.5 x 2 m for moving a person up the bed or across to another surface. Blue and red are the same sheet in two colours so a home or ward can tell sets apart.
It is machine washable and reusable, and folds small enough to keep at the bedside. Used in pairs or folded in half so the two slippery faces slide against each other.
Key features
- Low-friction fabric reduces the effort to move, turn and reposition
- 1.5 x 1 m size for turning and hip repositioning
- 1.5 x 2 m size for full-length moves up and across the bed
- Blue or red
- Machine washable, reusable
Who it suits
Any client who is moved in bed by a carer, from a person who needs a hand to shuffle up the pillows to a fully dependent client turned two-hourly. It belongs in every home care manual handling plan alongside a bed rail or hoist. It is not a transfer aid on its own: a client who must move from bed to chair without weight bearing needs a slide board or a hoist.
Good to know
- Sold as a single sheet; two sheets, or one folded, are needed for most manoeuvres
- Follow the manual handling plan: two carers for a full-length move
- Check the sheet for wear after washing and retire it when the surface loses its slip
- Safe working load and fabric composition not published by the supplier
