The Spex XLella2 is a bariatric back support built around a two-section shell. The lower section adjusts independently of the upper, so the back can be shaped around the tissue mass that sits behind the pelvis in many bariatric clients. Without that adjustment, a standard back is pushed forward and the trunk is left unsupported.
The lower section moves through 85 degrees in total: 55 degrees posterior and 30 degrees anterior. That range lets the clinician open the back out to clear tissue, or bring it forward to give lumbar contact, and set the upper section independently for trunk support.
This variant has the five-inch articulating lower section. The outer cover is a dual-layer build with air-mesh side panels and a moisture-wicking face, which addresses heat and moisture build-up over a large contact area. Hardware is available as fixed mount or quick release. Fixed mount is lighter and can be flipped to gain seat depth. Quick release suits folding wheelchairs and transport.
