About this product

The Theorem Mercer is a quad motor lift chair: the backrest and legrest move independently, and separate motors adjust the headrest and lumbar support. It lifts the user to a near standing position and reclines to lie flat. The Standard size has a 590 mm wide, 535 mm deep seat at 470 mm from the floor with a safe working load of 158 kg; the Petite has a 455 mm wide, 455 mm deep seat at 455 mm high with a safe working load of 136 kg.

The Standard is 990 mm wide and 1065 mm deep, the Petite 810 mm wide and 965 mm deep. Both come in Badlands Saddle (brown) or Badlands Eclipse (black) comfort touch fabric with a grained leather look, with a footrest extension for taller users and a USB port on the hand control.

Key features

  • Quad motor: independent back and legrest, plus powered headrest and lumbar
  • Lifts to standing and reclines to lie flat
  • Standard: seat 590 x 535 mm, seat height 470 mm, 158 kg safe working load
  • Petite: seat 455 x 455 mm, seat height 455 mm, 136 kg safe working load
  • Footrest extension for longer legs
  • Hand control with USB charging port
  • Saddle or Eclipse comfort touch fabric

Who it suits

A client who struggles to rise from a lounge chair, sits for long periods or sleeps in the chair, and wants to adjust head and lumbar support without changing the leg position, for example with heart failure, COPD or chronic back pain. The Petite suits shorter clients whose feet do not reach the floor on a standard chair. A client who needs pressure care or a tilt-in-space seat is better served by a pressure care recliner.

Good to know

  • Measure the client’s seat height and depth in a chair before choosing Petite or Standard
  • Allow clearance behind the chair for the lie-flat recline
  • Mains powered; a battery backup can be added for lowering in a power failure
  • DVA approved according to Theorem
