The Spex Angle-Adjust Arm Support is the mounting hardware for a wheelchair arm support pad. It adjusts height steplessly from 290 to 365 mm, measured from the top of the seat base to the top of the pad, and the pad angle tilts up to 30 degrees to raise or lower the forearm. It comes in three mechanisms: fixed, swing-down for side transfers, and quick-release so the whole support lifts off for a transfer or for loading into a car. Each is available for a seat pan mount (horizontal, under the seat) or a seat rail mount (vertical, to the frame rail).
The arm pad is ordered separately in slim (40 to 60 mm wide) or wide (70 to 90 mm wide) types, 250 to 350 mm long, with a wooden base, layered foam and a removable neoprene cover. The hardware is modular and can be combined with Spex lateral thigh supports on the same mount.

Who it suits
A client in a manual or power wheelchair, often with a Spex seating system, who needs an arm support positioned above or angled differently from the chair’s standard armrest: a hemiplegic arm that needs to sit higher and rotated inward, shoulder subluxation, or a client who props to hold trunk position. Swing-down suits a client who does side transfers; quick-release suits a client whose chair is folded or lifted into a car. A client who only needs a standard armrest at standard height does not need this hardware.
Good to know
- Hardware only: order the Spex arm pad (slim or wide, small, medium or large) to suit
- Fitted and adjusted by our team; the seat pan or rail must have a suitable fixing point
- Specify left or right side, mechanism and mount type when ordering
- Ask us to check compatibility with the chair make and model before ordering
