The Forte Zephair is a replacement air mattress system for clients at high to very high risk of pressure injury. Twenty-two alternating air cells, each 125 mm deep, sit on a firm foam foundation with a 5 degree heel pressure transfer region, so the surface keeps its shape if the pump stops and the client is never lying on the bed base. The mattress is 215 mm deep, the therapeutic range is 30 to 180 kg and it is made in eleven sizes from single to long king, including split queen halves for adjustable beds.
The pump is quiet, mounts on most bed ends, has a one-touch air filter change and warns of low pressure and power failure. The Premiflex Ultra cover is a four-way stretch, vapour-permeable polyurethane with a welded 360 degree zip and a waterfall flap. CPR release is on the air supply tubes, clear of linen and bed rails.

Who it suits
A client at high or very high pressure risk who cannot reposition independently: palliative care at home, advanced neurological conditions, or a client with an existing category 3 or 4 injury on the sacrum or trunk. The double, queen and king sizes let a couple keep sharing a bed, and the split queen halves suit a dual-motor adjustable bed. A client at low or medium risk who can still move in bed is usually better served by a static foam mattress such as the Oska Fika, which needs no pump.
Good to know
- Check bed rail height against the 215 mm mattress depth before delivery
- Warranty: 5 years foam core, 4 years Premiflex Ultra cover, 2 years air cells, 1 year pump
- Pump needs a power point near the bed end
- A quilted homecare cover is available as an alternative with a 2 year warranty
