Air Mattresses

A man rising from a lift recliner in his living room

Alternating air mattresses use a pump to inflate and deflate cells in cycles, relieving pressure at each point of the body in turn. They are prescribed for people at high or very high risk of pressure injury, those with existing wounds, and people who cannot reposition themselves in bed.

Choose between a mattress replacement system and an overlay depending on the bed and the level of risk. Check the mattress size against the bed platform, the pump’s weight range and settings, safe working load, noise level and whether a static mode is needed for transfers and care. Confirm compatibility with bed rails and the home care bed profile.

Thrive Lifecare supplies alternating air mattresses for purchase and hire across Tasmania, quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, and delivers and installs Tasmania-wide. Book a trial or contact the team for help with risk based selection.
