The Homecraft Handi-Reacher is a pick-up aid for retrieving items from the floor and shelves without bending or stretching. The trigger works with the whole hand rather than a finger pinch, so it suits a client with weak or painful fingers. One jaw is fixed and the other hinges on a wire drive, the jaws open to 350 mm, and slip-resistant rubber pads hold the item. It comes in three lengths: Standard 610 mm, Long 760 mm and Extra Long 890 mm.
The head rotates 180 degrees for reaching around obstacles, a magnet on the tip picks up pins and keys, and a small hook on the fixed jaw helps with dressing. The reacher weighs 190 g, 200 g or 220 g depending on length.
