About this product

The Oxford Up from Joerns Healthcare is a non-powered standing transfer aid for clients who can bear some weight and pull themselves up, but cannot stand and step safely on their own. The client places their feet on the enclosed footplate, shins against the knee pad 483 mm above the plate, and pulls up on the handles while the carer steadies them. Contoured seat pads swing in under the client for a seated transfer between bed, chair, wheelchair and commode. Safe working load is 200 kg.

There is no motor, battery or spreader bar, so it is lighter and simpler than a powered stand aid: 33 kg all up, 630 mm wide and 950 mm long, with legs that open from 600 mm to 845 mm to get around chairs and beds.

Key features

  • Non-powered stand aid and seated transfer device, 200 kg safe working load
  • Contoured swing away seat pads for seated transfers
  • Adjustable legs, 600 mm to 845 mm, to clear chairs, beds and wheelchairs
  • Enclosed footplate with knee pad 483 mm above the plate
  • Splits into base, mast and seat support tubes for transport
  • Securi3 clip sling attachment, sling optional

Who it suits

Clients in rehabilitation or aged care who are working on active standing, have grip strength and some leg strength, and can follow instructions during a transfer. It sits between a walking frame and a powered sit to stand hoist, and gives the client a role in the transfer rather than being passive. Not suited to clients who cannot weight bear at all.

Good to know

  • No batteries or charging, nothing to run flat
  • Optional padded polyester sling in small, medium and large on the Securi3 clip system
  • Assembly is required, and the unit splits into three parts for the car

Transfer aids should be trialled with the client and their carers, so book a trial and we will bring the Up to the home or facility. Thrive Lifecare is Tasmanian owned; ask us about hire as well as purchase Tasmania-wide.
