Sit-to-Stand Hoists

A carer helping a man stand from his wheelchair with a sit-to-stand hoist

Sit to stand hoists assist a person who can partially weight bear and follow instructions to rise from sitting to standing. With a standing sling and a knee pad, they support toileting, dressing and transfers to a chair or commode while keeping the person active and involved in the movement.

Standing hoists suit people in rehabilitation, those with weakness or reduced balance, and users who tolerate being held under the arms. Assess weight bearing ability, trunk control and cognition, and confirm the safe working load, base width and the space beside the bed and toilet. Carer training in sling fitting is important.

Thrive Lifecare supplies sit to stand hoists for purchase and hire across Tasmania, with trials, quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, delivery and servicing. Book a trial to check whether standing transfers are safe and comfortable for the person.
