The Bodypoint Universal Elastic Strap is a simple stretch strap for postural support that does not need tools or permanent mounting. It can be placed across the chest, abdomen, lap or legs, which makes it useful for trialling a support position before committing to a fixed harness, and for clients who use support only for part of the day.
It is made from high-stretch neoprene backed with a soft nylon loop fabric, and closes with hook and loop anywhere along its length. That gives continuous adjustment rather than fixed settings, and it can be trimmed shorter without the edge fraying.
The end tab has a thumbhole so it can be grasped and released one-handed, which suits clients with reduced hand function or carers working at the side of a chair. Because the strap gives, it is an anterior support, not a pelvic restraint. Bodypoint recommends a pelvic belt is used with it where pelvic position needs to be held.
