About this product

The Homecraft Lightweight Foam Handled Cutlery Set is a knife, fork, dessert spoon and teaspoon with stainless steel heads set into cylindrical foam handles. Each handle is 115 mm long and 28 mm in diameter, so the hand does not need to close tightly to hold on. The pieces are light: the knife is 45 g, the fork 34 g, the spoon 42 g and the teaspoon 30 g.

The foam handles are latex free. The set is hand wash only, so it is not one for the dishwasher.

Who it suits

A client with reduced grip strength or painful finger joints, for example with rheumatoid arthritis, who can still bring a spoon to the mouth but cannot hold standard cutlery. The light weight suits a client with a weak arm. A client with tremor is usually better with weighted cutlery, and a client with fixed wrist posture may need an angled or bendable set instead.

Good to know

  • Hand wash only, not dishwasher safe
  • Foam handles wear with use and should be replaced when they lose shape
  • Individual pieces are available if only one utensil is needed
