The BetterLiving alternating air mattress is Novis’s home care and aged care pressure system. The full replacement mattress has 20 TPU cells in a cell-in-cell design with a constantly inflated base layer, is 200 mm deep and carries 200 kg, for clients at risk through to high risk. The overlay has 17 nylon cells, is 130 mm deep, carries 160 kg and goes over the existing mattress for at-risk clients. Both are 2030 mm long, in 900 mm (single) or 1050 mm (king single) widths.
The same digital control unit runs both. Its AutoCair function senses the client’s weight and sets the pressure, with manual adjustment still available. Cycle time is adjustable between 10, 15, 20 and 25 minutes, and there are static, max-inflate, Fowler and transport modes plus a low-pressure and power-failure alarm. The pump weighs 2.5 kg and delivers 9 L/min. The top cover is PU-laminated nylon, water resistant and multi-stretch, with welded seams and a zip-off top.

Who it suits
The replacement mattress suits a client at high risk of pressure injury, or with an existing injury, who spends most of the day in bed and cannot reposition independently, on a hospital or adjustable bed at home or in residential care. The overlay suits a client at risk who has a sound existing mattress and needs alternating therapy at lower cost and weight. A client above 200 kg, or who needs low air loss for moisture management, should be referred to a higher specification system such as ProCair.
