The Staebel EN7 is a floorline bed made by Active Medical in New South Wales. The platform travels from 100 mm off the floor to 725 mm, so a client at risk of falls can sleep near floor level and carers can still work at hip height. Backrest, knee break and forward and reverse Trendelenburg are all electric, with an auto-regression backrest that slides back as it rises to reduce shear at the sacrum. Safe working load is 200 kg as standard, or 300 kg with the optional handset.
The king single has a 1070 x 2000 mm sleeping surface and an overall footprint of 1090 x 2115 mm, and takes a 1050 x 1960 mm mattress. All actuators sit under the platform so there are no end pedestals, and the bed comes with natural oak slender arch end boards, an ironstone powder coated frame and 75 mm twin wheel braking castors.

Who it suits
A client with a history of falls from bed, night-time confusion or seizures, where a floor-level bed removes the need for restrictive rails. The 725 mm top height also suits clients who are hoisted or need pressure care nursing, and the 300 kg option covers bariatric care. The king single gives a larger client, or one who moves a lot in bed, more room than a single. If the client mostly needs a bed that is easier to get out of rather than protection from falls, a standard home care bed with a 400 mm or so minimum height is lighter and cheaper.
