Accessories

A carer helping a person seated in a shower commode chair in a bathroom

The right accessories turn a standard mobile shower commode into a chair that fits one person well. Options include headrests, lateral supports, padded seats and seat inserts, footplates and leg rests, pans and pan holders, splash guards, harnesses and anti tip wheels.

Accessories matter most when a commode is being used daily or for someone with limited sitting balance. Check that any added support is compatible with the specific model and does not reduce the safe working load. A soft seat or different aperture shape can make a real difference to comfort and pressure risk during longer toileting routines.

Thrive Lifecare can advise on which accessories fit the commodes we supply in Tasmania, fit them at delivery, and include them in a quote for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase. Book a trial if the person’s needs have changed and their commode no longer fits.
