The Carrot 3000 is a forward-facing car seat built for children and young people with limited postural control. It fits users from 13.6 to 49 kg (about 3 to 15 years) and grows with the child: seat depth adjusts from 250 to 400 mm, the seat is 310 mm wide, and back extensions, shoulder protector wings and footplates are added as the child grows. The seat weighs 8.7 kg and is secured with the vehicle seatbelt, with an optional ISOFIX swivel base for easier transfers.
It is supplied in a black cover with a five-point harness and a padded hip belt. Behavioural upgrades are available: an anti-escape buckle the child cannot open, or a pen-key release buckle that needs a tool to unlock.

Who it suits
A child or teenager with cerebral palsy, hypotonia, autism or a behavioural presentation who cannot sit safely in a standard booster: they need lateral trunk support, a positioned pelvis and, in some cases, a harness they cannot undo. The anti-escape and pen-key options are for children who unclip standard buckles while the car is moving. A larger teenager or adult over 49 kg or taller than about 140 cm needs the Carrot XL, which takes 36 to 75 kg and can be built as an upgrade to an existing Carrot 3000.
Good to know
- Independently assessed under the AuSAP special purpose car seat protocol run by MACA
- Vehicle seatbelt must be used with the seat at all times; the swivel base needs ISOFIX
- Fitting should be done by a therapist or trained fitter using the Medifab scripting guide
- The XL option on this page refers to the Carrot XL build; confirm the size at scripting
