The Freedom Excel Superlite is a lightweight folding wheelchair for clients who can push themselves or be pushed by a carer. The double-braced aluminium frame weighs 12.7 kg, the safe working load is 110 kg, and it is available in 460 mm (18 in) and 510 mm (20 in) seat widths with a 430 mm seat depth. The 610 mm (24 in) spoked rear wheels are quick release, so the chair breaks down for a car boot.
The backrest folds down and the frame folds to 290 mm wide. Polyurethane tyres never need inflating, the padded armrests flip up and lift out for side transfers, and the swing-away legrests are removable. The upholstery is spill-proof nylon.

Who it suits
A client under 110 kg who needs a light chair for outings and appointments, either self-propelling on flat ground or being pushed by a family member who has to lift it into a car. It is a standard-frame chair without adjustable seating, so a client who needs postural support, tilt or a pressure cushion built into the seating system should be assessed for a configurable chair instead.
