The Melrose Shockwave XIX is a fixed position wheelchair designed and built to provide a comfortable ride by reducing jarring and vibration while negotiating tiled surfaces, cobblestones or going up and down curbs and steps. We have achieved this by building a parallel 4-link suspension component for the rear wheels, this part is adjustable for preload (weight) damping and travel on both wheels independently. The travel distance and damping also allows it to be used for some light off-road pushing. The suspension unit adds weight so may not be ideal for everyone, it also absorbs some energy that would usually be transferred into momentum. The unit is anodised so colours are limited, contact us for the range of colours.
