The Throne Bariatric Rail is a polished stainless steel toilet surround built for larger users. It attaches to the toilet pan for location but the load goes through height-adjustable legs to the floor, so the pan is not taking the client’s weight. The rails sit about 250 mm above the seat, roughly 600 mm apart, and the rated user weight is 180 kg.
The legs are set back so they do not get in the way of feet or a wheelchair footplate, and the feet have rubber grips. It can be fitted with a Throne spacer if the client also needs a higher seat.
Key features
- Rated for users up to 180 kg
- About 600 mm between the hand rails
- Rails about 250 mm above the toilet seat, legs adjust for height
- Free-standing legs with rubber grips carry the load to the floor
- Set-back legs keep the floor in front of the toilet clear
- Polished stainless steel, easy to wipe down
Who it suits
A heavier client with weak legs or painful hips and knees who can transfer with two-handed push-up support, at home or in a facility where a fixed grab rail cannot be installed. Because the load is on the floor, it is a good fit where the wall or pan will not take a mounted rail. For a client under about 150 kg who also needs a raised seat, a standard Throne rail with spacer, or an over-toilet aid, may be simpler.
Good to know
- Fits most standard toilet pans; check pan shape and seat fixing before ordering
- Throne 50 mm and 80 mm seat spacers can be added for extra seat height
- Supplier warranty is 12 months
- Installation on the pan is required
