About this product

The Arjo Sara Stedy is a non-powered standing and raising aid. The client places their feet on the footplate, knees against the pad, and pulls up on the crossbar handle to stand; the carer then swings the two seat flaps in behind them and the client sits for the transfer to a chair, commode or bed. Safe working load is 182 kg. The Standard suits users 149 to 193 cm tall and the Compact suits users 138 to 172 cm tall.

The Standard is 1040 mm long and 850 mm wide with the legs closed, opening to 1050 mm with the foot pedal to straddle a chair, and weighs 29.4 kg. The Compact is 1020 mm long and 780 mm wide, opening to 960 mm, and weighs 28.3 kg. Both are 880 mm high and run on low friction castors with brakes on the rear pair.

Key features

  • Safe working load 182 kg
  • Standard for users 149 to 193 cm, Compact for users 138 to 172 cm
  • Pivoting seat flaps, so the client sits for the move rather than standing on the footplate
  • Pedal operated leg spread to fit around chairs and commodes
  • Padded knee support and crossbar handle
  • Standard 1040 x 850 mm, 29.4 kg; Compact 1020 x 780 mm, 28.3 kg
  • Tested to ISO 10535

Who it suits

A client who can weight bear through at least one leg, has the arm strength to pull to standing and can follow instructions, but is unsafe to walk even a few steps: typical after a stroke, with advanced Parkinson’s, or during rehabilitation. Choose the Compact for a shorter client or a small bathroom. A client who cannot pull up or hold on needs a powered sit-to-stand hoist with a sling, and a client who can take a few supported steps may only need a turning aid.

Good to know

  • Manual, no battery or charging
  • Not a mobile hoist: the client must be able to stand with support
  • Check the 780 or 850 mm closed width against doorways and bathroom layout
  • Accessories include a soft seat and a bariatric footplate
