Overhead Lifting Solutions

A carer helping a man stand from his wheelchair with a sit-to-stand hoist

Overhead lifting systems use a ceiling mounted track or a freestanding gantry to lift and move a person without a mobile hoist taking up floor space. They allow one carer to complete transfers in bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas, and are often the most dignified and least tiring transfer method for daily use.

Planning an overhead system involves the building as much as the person: ceiling structure, room layout, track routes between bed, toilet and shower, door transitions and the safe working load required. Portable gantries suit rentals and short term needs; fixed tracks suit long term homes and supported accommodation. Funding may involve home modification approval alongside the equipment.

Thrive Lifecare assesses, supplies and installs overhead lifting systems Tasmania-wide, quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, and services them on schedule. Book a trial to start with a site assessment in Tasmania.
