Pressure injuries are largely preventable with the right support surface and a good care plan. This range covers pressure care mattresses, including alternating air and hybrid air foam models, and wheelchair and chair cushions in foam, gel, air and hybrid designs, for people at every level of risk.

Selecting pressure care in Tasmania starts with a risk assessment: mobility, sensation, skin condition, nutrition, moisture and time spent in bed or a chair. Then match the surface to the risk level, the bed or chair it will sit on, the person’s weight and their ability to reposition. Consider carer handling, cleaning and infection control.

Thrive Lifecare supplies pressure care products for purchase and hire Tasmania-wide, with quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, delivery and set up. Book a trial or contact the team for help matching a surface to the person.

Common questions

Which pressure care mattress do we need?

It depends on the person’s risk level, weight, mobility and how long they are in bed. Foam mattresses suit lower risk; alternating air and hybrid mattresses suit high and very high risk. A clinician’s pressure risk assessment is the starting point, and we will match a surface to it.

Can pressure care mattresses be hired?

Yes. Alternating air mattresses in particular are often hired for short term or palliative care. We deliver, set the pump and show carers how to use it.

Do you supply pressure care cushions as well?

Yes, for wheelchairs, lift chairs and day chairs, in foam, gel, air and hybrid designs. See Wheelchair Seating for chair specific options.

How is pressure care funded?

We quote in the format the funder needs. NDIS (self, plan or agency managed), Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA and private purchase are all common. Send us the OT report or script and we do the paperwork.
