The Spex Standard Medial Thigh Support, often called a pommel or knee block, is a padded wedge that attaches to the front of the wheelchair seat pan and sits between the client’s thighs. It blocks the legs from adducting and crossing and keeps the hips in a neutral position. The mounting hardware flips down for a side transfer and lifts off for a forward transfer; the lift-off can be locked with a bolt if it is not wanted.
Three sizes cover pad lengths of 145, 155 and 185 mm with pad heights of 40, 50 and 60 mm. Height adjusts by 65 mm on all sizes and depth by 26, 62 or 86 mm depending on size. The cover is removable and washable. A custom size can be made to order.

Who it suits
A client with adductor tone, scissoring or windswept posture in a manual or powered wheelchair who needs the thighs held apart to keep the pelvis and trunk in line. It mounts on Spex seat cushions and most solid seat pans. If the client needs the block angled or offset for an asymmetrical presentation, the Spex Axial medial thigh support is the better choice.
