Slings
Moving and transferring a person safely protects them and the people who assist them. This range includes mobile lifters and hoists, sit to stand hoists, overhead ceiling hoists, slings, manual transfer aids such as slide sheets and transfer boards, and air assisted lateral transfer systems.
Choosing transfer equipment in Tasmania means matching the method to the person’s ability to bear weight, follow instructions and tolerate handling, then matching the equipment to the environment and the carers. Consider floor surfaces, clearance under beds and chairs, storage, the safe working load and the training carers will need.
Thrive Lifecare supplies, delivers and installs transfer equipment Tasmania-wide, offers hire and trials, quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, and services hoists on a schedule. Book a trial to plan a safe transfer routine for the person and their carers.
Common questions
What is the difference between a mobile hoist and a ceiling hoist?
A mobile hoist is a wheeled lifter that moves between rooms and needs floor space to manoeuvre. A ceiling hoist runs on a track fixed to the ceiling or a freestanding gantry, takes no floor space and is easier for a single carer. Our Home Modifications team installs ceiling track.
Do you supply and fit slings?
Yes. The sling is sized and chosen for the person and the type of transfer. We trial slings with the hoist and the carers, and check fit at handover.
Can transfer equipment be trialled?
Yes. Book a trial and we will arrange it at home or in our Northern Tasmania or Southern Tasmania showroom, with a consultant who can adjust the equipment to the person. There is no obligation.
How is a hoist funded?
We quote in the format the funder needs. NDIS (self, plan or agency managed), Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA and private purchase are all common. Send us the OT report or script and we do the paperwork.
