The Spex Classic SuperHigh Contour Cushion is the highest contour cushion in the Spex Classic range, built for a client with moderate to severe positioning needs. It has deep pelvic immersion with a 50 mm step at the rear, a gel-foam ischial well and super high medial and lateral thigh contouring for stability. Under the top foam is the Spex strategic positioning base, a grid of removable cells that the therapist adds or removes to build up under a thigh, correct rotation or wedge the cushion. It is listed here in 18 x 20 in (455 x 510 mm) and 20 x 20 in (510 x 510 mm), both 75 mm high at the front with a 100 mm trough and rated to 160 kg.
The cushion needs no pump or maintenance. It comes with an inner incontinence cover and a dual-layer outer cover with 3D breathable mesh and air-mesh sides. A 16 x 16 in cushion weighs 2.0 kg.

Who it suits
A client with a symmetrical or asymmetrical pelvis that needs correction or accommodation, muscle tone that pushes the thighs into adduction or abduction, or a windswept posture, where external thigh laterals cannot be fitted or are not enough. The cells let the therapist build a leg length discrepancy or pelvic rotation correction into the cushion at fitting. A client who self-propels and transfers independently with only mild positioning needs will find the high contours restrictive; the Spex Classic High or Standard Contour is a better fit there.
Good to know
- The 50 mm rear step is standard; a full-length contouring version without the step is available at no extra cost (code 1111-0304-000) at a lower pressure care rating
- Not compatible with Spex thigh supports or medial thigh supports
- Custom sizes, cut-outs, back cane cut-outs and overlays can be scripted; the Spex script form is linked below
- Outer cover comes in black as standard, with eight colour options to order
